Sharing Handmade Christmas Cards

Even though I couldn't make or write out cards this year, I did receive lots of beautiful cards.  This little bird came from my dear friend Mary Ann in CT.  Her work is AMAZING!  this bird unfolds at the tail feathers.  Don't you just love the chunky glitter!

Tina sent this one, she used a Stampin Up embossing folder, dabbed with white and then glittered.
This pop-up card came from Barbara Snyderman in NJ - she is in the cat card club I belong too.  The cutest little kitty pops out.
My dear friend Toni made this one.  Don't you just love the gold embossing?
This card came from Barb Bruemmer in MI.  I met her at a Paper Trey convention here in town. Not only does she make awesome cards but she incorporates her photography in it too.
This one came from her partner in crime, Pam Downie who I also met at the convention. We all hit it off as if we knew each other for ages.
My co-worker and dear friend Chrissie made this card - the punch outs are so clever.
Kendall made this one - we're in the same stamp club together. She makes awesome cards!
And lastly, my friend Renee made this card above and the post it holder below.  She and I share the love of anything vintage.  Isn't this card the cutest!
So as you can see, I was spoiled with the most awesome cards!

Sharing Christmas Around Our House

I wanted to share a little of how we celebrate
Christmas at our house. Be prepared for pictures!  Of course, I do most of the decorating so I didn't do a lot this year with the wrist surgery messing things up.  This is my kitchen tree. I'd put a tree in every room under normal conditions!
Lots of mini kitchen and baking ornaments!
A few years ago I began collecting old Santa mugs.  I try to find unique ones and not duplicate. I really love Santa's and have collected them in all sizes. for years.
The older stuff is, the better.
My collection of molded bubble santa's all gathered for a party!
Vintage ornaments on display from my grandmothers, my aunt, my mom... all near and dear to me.
I got this old display from a yard sale years ago - it came from "Pogue's" department store if anyone remembers them?  It sits at the top of my stairs and changes with the seasons.  As you can see the top shelf has Gypsy's pictures with Santa puppy photo and again this year at 2 years old.  The puppy photo on the right was easy to get - she was a ham.  However, this years on the left is a different story.  She wanted no part of this bearded man.
One of my very favorite ornaments - with my very favorite all time - I miss him so much - dog, Max.
A little bit of my snowmen...
Again, the older looking the better...

My great friend Renee made this for me - she and I are like two peas in a pod - love all things vintage.

 More Santa mugs!

Another of my favorite pieces from my dear friend Toni...
And lastly, this handed quilted piece was made a long time ago by my dear old friend Sieglinde. It's a piece I will treasure forever.
I hope you enjoyed my touch of the holiday in my home!
Have a wonderful Christmas full of memories with family and friends!

I have two Santa hats hanging on the top post of my kitchen chairs - something we've done for years now. Last year Gypsy didn't seem to care about them but this year is so different. Now that she is 2, she barks at every little new thing that wasn't there before.  So we have alot of barking with all the holiday decor everywhere.  Funny thing is she barks as if to tell us "Hey this wasn't here yesterday"....
I've even resorted to taking the item down and letting her smell it -sometimes it works and sometimes she just keeps barking at it until I put it away.
When this hat fell off the chair the other day she took it as if it was a new play toy - and so it became hers- just like a coveted "baby".  I can't imagine our home without her, as you never know what will happen next.

I'm recovering nicely from my unexpected wrist surgery and finally feel good enough to put some Christmas decorations up.  Christmas is my favorite holiday, (with Halloween a very close second) so I love to put all my holiday goodness out on display.  This year I did have to scale back and not overdo the wrist.
I snapped this photo last night, we had a nice fire going and Jack Frost took full advantage of the warmth blowing out on him.  He sure looks pretty peaceful!

We keep my grandmother's antique laundry basket tucked in the corner next to the fireplace to hold blankets and throws for those cold winter nights. From a distance it simply looks like a pile of plush blankets...

But if you look closely there are ears and feet...

Casper, one of our two white cats has decided this is now her domain. Whenever you can't find her this is where she will be. Gypsy, the Great Dane doesn't even realize she is right here!

I'm going to be taking a little blog break due to some unexpected issues I am having with my right wrist.  I'm having surgery on it on Tuesday and not sure how well I'll be able to use it.  I'll be back as soon as I can!
