Double Decker

Sometimes ya never know what you're going to get in a garden. Last year I planted a new variety of coneflower called Double Decker. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was delighted to find these! Compared to the "basic" coneflower like these the Double Decker are far more interesting.
The butterflies don't seem to care which ones I'm growing....

The love them all!

Have a great sunshine day!

Unexpected Best Friends

Its so hard for people to believe when I tell them our Great Dane puppy who is 11 months old loves to play with our cats. These two are always together, always playing, even sleeping together.

Occasionally it turns into "mouth wars" as we call them. Gypsy mouths Jack and sometimes even attempts to carry him around. Most times Jack is so very tolerant but there are times when I hear the distress call from Jack to come and save him!

White Wednesday - the cat and garden views

It's White Wednesday over at Faded Charm so naturally I had to join the party. This white Clematis is growing by my pool deck and delights me with huge lunch plate size blooms.

This is Jack - Jack Frost. He was once a neighbors neglected cat who decided life at our house was much more enjoyable. And had food besides...

A glimpse of Astilbes in my garden.

And a Crazy Daisy. One of several cultivars in my gardens.

Enjoy your day and all that life brings with it!

Soothing Sounds

One of my favorite features of all my gardens is this multi level fountain. It was the best yard sale find I have ever laid my eyes on! I've had it for years now and its showing signs of love, being patched over the years. Its a perfect finish for this corner of the patio. The soothing sound of the water drowns out any traffic noise from the road.

Since my patio gets morning sun its the perfect place for impatiens. They love shade and to stay moist as they easily dry out in the full sun. This makes a perfect plant for my patio pots since I see them everyday and can give them the attention they need if its hot. In return they give me tons of beautiful color all summer long into the fall.

Another favorite of mine is anything galvanized. I'm not sure where that came from, but I love it!. I love scouring flea markets and yard sales for old watering cans!

A few cards to share

I needed a wedding card and wanted to use the colors of the brides invitation. Its a summer outdoor wedding so I wanted to make it fun. I actually used the back piece of her invitations for the green metallic paper.

I also needed a card for my "Ink or Dye" stamp club. The theme for this card was something recycled. I opted for a card made from a piece of distressed cardboard and covered the inside with harlequin paper. The image was stamped while the paper I used was soaking wet. It sorta embosses the image into the paper. The photo of course doesn't show its dimension at all. It turned out better than I expected!

A few more

My last post seemed like ages ago. I'm not sure why life always has to get in the way! I have more photos of my Clematis to share. This one greets you as you come into the yard and looks like little bells hanging down.

This one is growing in a half sun half shade location which works well for this variety.

I do colors other than purple! This one is called Elsa Path and the white blooms are as large as lunch plates. I have it growing right near the pool so everyone can enjoy it!
